Le Chasseur - SOLD The American watercolourist Dewitt Peters (1901-66), who ran the Centre d´Art, bought the work and sent him an encouraging letter. Obin responded at once, announcing his ambition to become the historian of his country in paint.
He was soon salaried by the Centre d´Art to develop a Cap-Haïtien branch. In 1951 he travelled to Port-au-Prince to paint two important themes for the Sainte-Trinité Episcopal Cathedral: a Crucifixion on the central wall of the apse and a Last Supper at the side; Christ on the cross is shown surrounded by people of the Cape dressed to attend Sunday services, oblivious to the tragedy before them.
