Le Chasseur - SOLD
The American watercolourist Dewitt Peters (1901-66), who ran the Centre d´Art, bought the work and sent him an encouraging letter. Obin responded at once, announcing his ambition to become the historian of his country in paint.
Obin played an important role in the development of art in Haiti. He was one of the first applicants to the Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince, to which in 1944 he posted a curious painting (untraced) in homage to President Roosevelt of the USA as he lifted the hated Marine Occupation a decade earlier.
