Bourmond Byron was born in Jacmel. A placid and tranquil man, he is skilled and passionate about voodoo. He joined the art center in 1955. He paints his subjects in his infamous blue-green tones, which are submerged in semi-mystical luminescence. Byron is considered to be part of the Jacmel school of painters from his portrayal of Haitian life and dream landscapes.
